Shipping policy
Howdy, y’all!
Thank you for shopping with Cowboy Toffee Company! We put plenty of care into every batch and want your toffee’s trip from our kitchen to your doorstep to go smoothly. Here’s what to know before placing your order.
Where we ship
We ship from Ranger, Texas, throughout the United States, excluding Hawaii. Shipping charges and available delivery options are shown at checkout before you complete your purchase.
Our shipping season
Chocolate and Texas summers aren’t the best traveling companions. We ship during the cooler fall and winter months and typically pause shipping from March through September. Our exact opening and closing dates depend on the weather. Check our website for current shipping announcements and preorder information.
Warm-weather orders
Our toffee contains chocolate, and temperatures above 70°F increase the risk of softening, melting, or changes in appearance. Conditions here in Texas, along the delivery route, and at your destination can all affect your order.
During our shipping season, you’re welcome to order even if your area is still warm, or you may prefer to wait for cooler weather. If you would like us to hold your order for a cooler shipping window, please email us with your order number before it ships.
Processing, preorders, and delivery
Orders normally require 1–3 business days to prepare before shipping. Please allow additional time during busy holiday periods or when an order is being held at your request.
Preorders follow the estimated shipping schedule provided when you place your order. A preorder confirmation does not mean your package has shipped.
We use USPS or UPS. Carrier delivery time is separate from our order-processing time, and delivery estimates can change because of weather, holiday volume, or other carrier delays. If you’re ordering for a particular occasion, please leave extra time for delivery.
You’ll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information when your order is prepared for shipment. Tracking may take time to update after the carrier receives the package.
When your toffee arrives
Please bring your package indoors promptly and store your toffee in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Mailboxes, porches, and vehicles can become warm even on otherwise mild days.
Sending a gift? Let the recipient know to expect a delivery so their toffee doesn’t spend extra time outdoors.
Melted, inedible, or carrier-damaged orders
If your toffee arrives melted, inedible, or damaged by the carrier, please contact us promptly so we can arrange a replacement or refund.
Include your order number, a description of the problem, and clear photos of the toffee, shipping box, and shipping label. Please keep the packaging while we review the issue, and contact us before returning any product.
A word about chocolate bloom
Chocolate can sometimes develop a whitish or grayish coating, streaks, or a cloudy appearance called bloom. This can happen when temperature changes affect the chocolate’s temper or when moisture affects its surface.
Bloom can change the chocolate’s appearance and texture, but bloom alone does not make otherwise sound chocolate unsafe to eat.
Chocolate bloom alone does not qualify for a replacement or refund. Toffee that has actually melted in transit is covered under the damage policy above.
If you’re unsure what you’re seeing, send us a photo. We’re happy to help.
Address accuracy and delivery issues
Please double-check that your shipping address is complete and correct, including any apartment, suite, or unit number, and that the recipient can receive packages at that location.
If you notice an address error after ordering, contact us right away. Once a package has shipped, we may be unable to change its delivery details.
Returned packages and reshipping
Packages returned to Cowboy Toffee Company because of an incorrect or incomplete address are subject to a $25 reshipping fee plus the cost of shipping to send them again.
If a gift is returned, we’ll contact the purchaser by email or phone for an updated address. You may choose to have the toffee resent to the intended recipient or shipped to your own address. The same $25 reshipping fee plus shipping applies.
Lost, refused, or stolen packages
Cowboy Toffee Company cannot accept responsibility or issue refunds for packages lost by the shipping carrier, refused by the recipient, or stolen after delivery. This includes packages the carrier marks as delivered but that are reported as not received.
Toffee that arrives melted, inedible, or damaged by the carrier is covered under our damage policy above.
